Mya is a 4 year old black and white shih tzu. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea preventatives. We got Mya from a shelter and before that she was at a breeder. Having so many litters sapped the calcium from her teeth. She eats canned food because we had to have some of her teeth extracted. When we got her she also had open sores on the top of her front paws. We got antibiotics and topical medication and got her healed up. However, if you leave her unsupervised without an e collar on she will lick and chew her paws raw again. The vet isn't sure if this is due to allergic itching or just a habit she developed while being caged at the breeder.
She really is a sweet little girl despite what she's been through. She will do best in a home with no children. I have three young children and she doesn't like them. Early in the mornings before the kids wake up she is happy and social and wants to sit with me in the chair while I drink my coffee. As soon as the kids are up and around she runs and hides in my room. She wants nothing to do with them. She needs to be in a home without children so she can socialize and be free to be the awesome lap dog I know she will be. I hate to see her go, but I don't think her life now is very fulfilling spending half the day in her crate while I'm at work and the other half hiding in my room.
